There will be a Special Election for a new Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Chairperson on Tuesday, October 24. 

The deadline to request absentee ballots is Tuesday, October 17. To request an absentee ballot, please contact the Front Desk at 360-297-2646 or Jordan DeCoteau at 360-297-6217. An absentee ballot can only be requested by the voter, not by others, including family members. 

The Chairperson is a unique, all-encompassing position. They are expected to serve in the interests of the membership, provide leadership to staff, and lead the work of Tribal Council. The Chairperson sets the tone of Tribal government on behalf of the membership and must lead the Tribe in all areas, including those that they personally may not have an interest in or passion for.

Five Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal members have submitted Intents to Run and will appear on the ballot. They include, in alphabetical order by last name:

On Thursday, October 19 at 5 pm, there will be a Community Q&A with the candidates in the Elder Center. All community members are invited. The event will be moderated by Georgia Makris.
