To the Members of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe,
The U.S. Senate has failed to pass funding legislation, which means the federal government will most likely shut down at 12:01 am Eastern time/9:01 pm Local time.
We want to assure our community members and staff that the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe expects to experience few, if any, impacts from this shutdown. Our Tribe’s financial position is strong, and we have the resources to fully fund the government and all services for 60-90 days, if not beyond.
We have successfully weathered government shutdowns before, including the longest in history during Trump’s first term in 2018. For the Port Gamble S’Klallam, the outcome of this event will be no different as our focus remains to care for our community and ensure uninterrupted access to programs and services for all our members.
