The U.S. Senate is currently reviewing and negotiating a federal tax and spending bill.
Dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill” by the current Presidential administration, it includes several ancillary provisions proposed by Republicans, including a proposal to allow the sale of over 2 million acres of federal lands. This measure threatens Tribal sovereignty, natural resources, and treaty rights.
It is important that U.S. citizens–tribal and non-tribal alike–make clear their opposition to this proposal so that it is removed from the budget bill before it is voted on by the Senate.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Call your local Senators and those in states that are likely to support the proposal’s removal from the budget bill.
In the links below, please find a list of Senators, their phone numbers, and a script/talking points that can be used as needed. Also included is a map of public lands at risk a sell-off.
PLEASE make your voice heard. Call your Senators and let them know that selling off public lands is unacceptable!
