PGST member Jayla Moon and her accomplishments as an athlete, student, and PGST community member have been celebrated in an article by Jeff Graham in today’s Kitsap Sun:
“It’s not often a female high school athlete from the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe receives a chance to compete at the next level. That’s the opportunity Kingston senior Jayla Moon earned as she’ll continue her pursuits in education and basketball at Olympic College. Moon joined family, friends and community members at a signing ceremony Monday at the Tribe’s longhouse gathering place in Kingston.
“I am honored to be a role model for the younger generation,” Moon said. “My tribe means the world to me, they have helped shape the person I am today.”
