The North Kitsap School District is asking voters to consider a capital bond in the February 13, 2024 election. The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Council supports the bond proposal and asks community members to learn more about the proposed funding and vote in the upcoming election.
The proposed bond provides funding to ensure all students have access to the learning spaces that support their education from elementary through high school. Projects covered under the proposed bond include the rebuilding of two elementary schools, the continued modernization of Poulsbo Middle School, eliminating portables across the district, and funding critical improvements across North Kitsap, while keeping taxes stable. NK schools rely on bonds as the state provides little to no funding for school construction projects.
The bond ask is for $242 million and, if passed, will accomplish the projects listed above. The change in tax rates is $.10 per $1000 of assessed property value for those who pay property tax. In simple terms, if a home is valued at $500,000, the increase in property taxes is $50 annually.

In addition, please feel free to download, review, and share the following explainers on the bond measure, the projects they’ll support, and the cost to taxpayers. These documents were prepared by the NK School District:
Please vote in the upcoming election! Ballots should begin arriving to homes at the beginning of February and can be returned to voting boxes across North Kitsap, including the one in front of the Tribal Center!
