Notice of Public Hearing and Public Comment on Review and Proposed Revisions of Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters

The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe invites the public to review and comment on the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters (WQS) and the Tribe’s proposed revisions. Pursuant to the Port Gamble Tribal Constitution and the federal Clean Water Act, the Tribe adopted the WQS in 2002 to manage and regulate quality and use of Port Gamble S’Klallam Reservation waters. The Tribe is reviewing the WQS’s designated uses, criteria, antidegradation requirements, and general provisions, and is proposing revisions to the WQS. The Tribe is not proposing amendments to the aquatic life criteria, which the Tribe intends to evaluate and amend after these revisions are complete.

The Tribe’s Natural Resources Department will hold a public hearing at 5:00 P.M. on May 23, 2024 at the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe Long House for the purpose of hearing comments and recommendations on the review of the WQS and the Tribe’s proposed revisions to the WQS.
