The Culture Department is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage and traditions of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe. As part of our efforts, we are preparing to launch the S’Klallam Living Language Program to revitalize and promote our language, Nəxʷsƛ’ay’əmúcən.

We are seeking talented Tribal artists to create two distinct logos:

  • S’Klallam Living Language Program Logo: This logo will represent our language program and will be used on class materials and various promotional items. We envision a design that embodies the essence of Nəxʷsƛ’ay’əmúcən and reflects the cultural significance of our language.
  • Culture Department Logo: This logo will represent the Culture Department of PGST. It will be used on class materials, promotional items, and as gifts for honored guests. We seek a design that encapsulates the spirit of our department’s mission and values.

Mission:

“Promote the preservation and revitalization of S’Klallam Tribal history, language, and culture within the Port Gamble S’Klallam community, alongside our partners and neighboring communities.”

Submission Guidelines:

  • Artists are invited to submit their designs for one or both logos.
  • Designs should be culturally sensitive and respectful of S’Klallam values and traditions.
  • Submissions can be hand-drawn or created digitally as vector files.
  • Please include a brief description explaining the inspiration behind your design.
  • Artists must be of PGST descent.
  • The chosen artist will receive compensation of $500 and must grant us full rights to the artwork.

How to Apply:

To apply, please send your logo designs along with your contact information and a brief artist bio to Aliciaf@pgst.nsn.us.

The deadline for submissions is April 22nd 2024.

Selection Process:

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of representatives from the Culture Department. Selected artists will be notified by May 10th 2024.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the preservation and promotion of Nəxʷsƛ’ay’əmúcən and the cultural heritage of the S’Klallam Tribe. We look forward to seeing your creative interpretations!

Sincerely, Alicia Fulton Culture Program Manager
