Energy Sovereignty

Beginning in 2024, the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe started evaluating energy usage and needs, and considering solutions to put the Tribe on the path to future energy resiliency and, eventually, sovereignty.

This process will be refined and implemented over decades. Initial efforts have been aided by free technical assistance for island and remote communities provided by the Department of Energy through the Energy Technology Innovation Partnership Project (ETIPP). Other partners in this project include Spark Northwest and Remote Energy.

Linked on this page, please find resources to help you understand the Tribe’s efforts towards energy resiliency and how you can become more energy aware and efficient.
